Technical Notes on the SIGLO Software

  • This page gives a short technical description of the SIGLO series of discharge modeling software.

  • The SIGLO & BOLSIG programs are written in FORTRAN, and the user-friendly interfaces have been developed using INTERACTER, and WINTERACTER (for the windows versions), a commercial library of Fortran callable graphical subroutines. The user can select from pop-up menus a set of conditions: gas composition, pressure, gap length, applied voltage, frequency, geometry. The gas composition may consist of a single component selected from a list of 15 different gases for which data have been compiled in the library file provided with the SIGLO codes or the user may expand this list to include other gases and binary gas mixtures. Gas parameter data in gas mixtures can be calculated using the Boltzmann solver freeware BOLSIG.
  • A more recent and improved version of BOLSIG, BOLSIG+, written by G. Hagelaar is available on the GREPHE/LAPLACE website at this address: BOLSIG+

  • Absolutely no knowledge of numerical modeling or computer techniques is required to use the SIGLO series. The use of the software is very intuitive and does not need a long and painful study of the manuals.

  • The programs are available for PC (Windows 95-98-2000-NT-XP). For information on extensions to Linux, contact us..
