Output Files

General information on the Input and Output files can be obtained in Files.

SIPDP-AC writes at regular intervals a files res2d.out containing the current results (densities, potential, currents ...) and the geometry data. This file is used when the program has been stopped and is later restarted (to continue previous calculations).

A new res2d.out file replaces the previous one every 200 (default value) time steps. The default value can be changed in the Control option of the Data menu.

It is also possible to store intermediate results without overwriting them. This is useful, for example, when one wants to run SIPDP-AC in background and look at the results later. The Play Back option is used in that case. See the Control option to get information on how to record these data files. The recorded data files will be stored in the ascii subdirectory (see Files) and their names will be of the form res01.res, res02.res, res03.res, ...

In order to Play Back some previously recorded results, the option Play Back in the Data menu must be selected.

The play back mode is similar to the simulation mode for all graphic options. Using the Run option in the Play Back mode displays the successive recorded data as a movie. Go to the Play Back page for more details.

The user can also save IMAGES which are displayed on a graphic window, in a bitmap format, or the ascii data corresponding to a 2D contour plot. The corresponding files are stored respectively in the image and ascii sub-directories of the current Run directory. Go to the Save Image section of the Graphics page for more information on the way to save bitmap IMAGES. Information on how to automatically save a sequence of IMAGES can be found in the Update Frequency section of the Graphics page.
